Mining is very important to Newfoundland and labrador. Newfoundland contains many minerals. Some of the minerals in Newfoundland are iron(mostly), silver, lead, gold and zinc. Many minerals were found in Newfoundland and they get most of their money from mining.
In 1979 a lot of oil was found in the hiberina oil fields. Over 300km of the feild was full of oil. In 2007 there was also a lot of oil found. This had helped Newfoundland and labrador get a lot of money for their province.
Across the border of Newfoundland there is a huge river called the great banks. There is a lot of fish in the river so fishing is very common in Newfoundland. Newfoundland gets a lot of money because of the fishing industry.
Newfoundland's pulp and paper industry is popular. They mainly cut down maple and birch trees. This had made a lot of more money for the province, yet this is a large environmental issue.
